Basic Types of Solar Panels

Numerous brands of solar panels are out in the market. But, there are only three types of technologies concerned in construction of solar panels. Namely, monocrystalline, polycrystalline and amorphous thin film. You should be knowledgeable in each type so that you can choose the one that suits your needs.

Monocrystalline panel uses crystalline silicone created in huge sheet that has been cut to the size of panel. It has an outstanding performance in cooler conditions and has an excellent lifespan. Leading units of it indicates that it has over 18% conversion efficiency. Polycrystalline panel uses bunch of small cells place in together unlike monocrystalline. It is known to be less efficient than the first type but much cheaper. It has a better performance during hotter conditions. Amorphous thin film does not use the usual components used for solar panels since it didn’t need the same protection for fragile crystalline cells. The main advantage of this type of solar panels is its low manufacturing cost. However, this is not as efficient as the crystalline panels.

If you are looking for the best type of solar panels, the monocrystalline is the right choice. Just by understanding its efficiency and durability, you’ll know that it is the best option.
